What are LPCs and LMFTs?
“LPC” is the abbreviation for “Licensed Professional Counselor” and “LMFT” is the abbreviation for “Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.” Each is a formal designation for a counselor who has achieved that licensure status per the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists. All HopeWorks counselors are LPCs, LMFTs or Ph.D.s, although we sometimes employ LPC or LMFT interns who are completing their counseling education. For more information about our counselors, see “Counselors” on this website.
